Imac question

What is the best dvd burner 16X speed that is compatable for the Imac computer.It has to be an external burner. Also, how long does it usually take for the computer to recognise the camcorder. I have the firewires all connected right yet it still has not recognised the Pc!

turn the camcorder onto playback, rather than record, open imovie, switch the imovie interface to camera mode and it should recognize the camera...

I need an external one as its the imac with all the features just has a monitor and a keyboard need to externally firwire everything. I figured the problem. I was using usb instead of firewire

especially the 16X speed. I know the discs are slightly more expensive but the speed is worth it.
