BMFin 0 #1 July 13, 2006 Could someone also please explain what are the differences on the autoexposure programs in sony DV cams ? Sports, beach, landscape etc... Is any of them more suitable for skydiving than others ?
quade 3 #2 July 13, 2006 Since every camera in the Sony line is -slightly- different, I'm going to be using The Sony TRV22 as an example. If you click on that link you should start downloading the manual for the camera and you can read Sony's description of what each setting does. Most of the Sony cameras have similar settings and work in a similar manner. The Program AE section begins on page 62. Generally speaking, because of the contrast ratios involved with skydiving I have a tendancy to run in the Beach & Ski mode. Occasionally, if I KNOW I'm going to try to pull a frame grab from the video, OR I know we will want to look at the video frame-by-frame for some particular reason, I'll run in the Sports mode, but otherwise it's pretty annoying.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Unutsch 0 #3 July 14, 2006 I do the same thing as quade, but sometimes also use the Portrait mode. In my opinion, it gives the best colours possible, but ONLY with sunlight coming from behind you. Otherwise, it is to dark. Check out the site of the Fallen Angels FreeflY Organisation: http://www.padliangeli.org
