flyhy 0 #1 May 9, 2003 Hi. I'm just about to put new steering lines onto my canopy but haven't got a sewing-machine... Does it make any difference to make the stitching by hand as long as it's holding the fingertrap in its position?
darkwing 4 #3 May 9, 2003 I'd be comfortable doing it, as a temporary fix, but I'd put some machine stitches in it as soon as I could. It would be good to have a rigger look at it before you jump it.... -- Jeff My Skydiving History
riggerrob 563 #4 May 9, 2003 Performance Designs recommends finger-trapping, then tying steering lines. A simple overhand knot will prevent the fingertrap from slipping out. And yes, a few hand stitches would also help in that scenario, just remember to use E-thread.
flyhy 0 #5 May 11, 2003 ... the line in the fingertrap is now actually too short to tie a knot in it... but I jumped it today and it seems to be alright. Maybe just no long term solution anyway...
