FFlyer 0 #1 July 24, 2005 Hi all, Ill hopefully be jumping my camera (sony hc42) for the first time next weekend and just want to get your opinions on what settings to use. There seems to be quite a few different ways to set things up. I did a few searches and one thing that seems to be standard, is that you should set it to manual focus and then to infinity (not too sure how to do this yet, since I havnt had time to play with my camera settings, but im sure ill figure it out if this will be the best way of focusing it). Most of my jumps are freefly jumps if that makes any difference to which settings I should use? What other settings should I know about and what should I set them to? Any advice here would be great, thanks
 tso-d_chris 0 #2 July 24, 2005 Quote just want to get your opinions on what settings to use. If you limit yourself to one or two settings, you are limiting yourself and the kinds of shots you can get. There is no one size fits all setting (or lens) for skydiving. Play with them all, in the air and on the ground, and learn how each setting affects your video. Then, you will have a much better idea which setting is best for your purposes on any particular jump. I f you dont use manual focus your camera will try to focus different things on freefall. play with the settings of your camera like settings for fast sports or still imags you will get different results for instant, if you set your camera to record fast sports and video the props of a plane you could see each blade going around other setting will give you a fan looking circle. Sorry about the wording but I'm in a hurry.
