madflicker 0 #1 December 11, 2003 I am just starting out and wanted to know which editing software (IBM compatible) people think is best to use for transferring and editing miniDV tape out from camcorders. I am leaning towards buying Premiere but am not sure how easy to use it is. Thanks!!!

jdhill 0 #3 December 11, 2003 Premier... there is a learning curve, but its not too bad... there are lots of training resourses out there for it too. It is a little pricey, but you can get high end results... there are cheaper ones out there, but you get what you pay for. prost 0 #4 December 11, 2003 If you are going to look at something in the more expensive range look at pinnacle edition. If you just want to make basic videos I would go with Pinacle studio DV deluxe. It is easier when making shot videos and works very well.
AlvaroCarvalho 0 #5 December 12, 2003 I use StudioDV v8...i tried Adobe Premiere but i was already too comfortable with StudioDV. Prost...what's new in the Deluxe version? Blue skies! Hey...ho...let's go!
velo90 0 #6 December 12, 2003 I use Media Studio Pro V6.0. Came bundled with the firewire card for my PC. Tried using Premier but found it too confusing. You like what you know best. It all depends what you want to do. For tandem videos Media Studio offers more features than you really need. For year end videos maybe Media Studio is missing a few things that Premier has. I have heard that Pinnacle is easy but very basic. As FreakyDiver said, you can download trail versions of many video editing packages. A better idea, if possible, is to find a vidiot that uses one of the above and ask he/she can give you a quick intro on how to use it. I found getting started was the hardest thing. freakydiver 0 #7 December 12, 2003 Not to mention, whatever package you get comfortable with (try as many as you can) - you can usually get quick answers to nagging questions through this forum. I'd venture to guess that with all the vidiots on dz.com - almost all if not all video packages out there have been used. Good luck. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
skychic68 0 #8 December 17, 2003 Hi Dave, I bought Media studio and am just learning to use it. Have you had any problems with it? Do you use it to burn DVD's? Let me know what your impression is of the program and if youhave any heads up for me about issues. Thanks, CindyQue sera sera
