Digital Still Cameras

Recommended Posts

Raoul Gravell and Craig O'Brien have been using a digital still camera for a couple of events now -- the Kate and Tony 112-ways a couple weekends ago and the SkyQuest event just this last weekend. See stuff HERE in his gallery section and click on the 112-ways.
Results are, to say the least, fantastic!
However, this is not a game for people with small wallets.
The main reason that most freefall photographers are not using digital yet is that the intial capital investment is HUGE. At least for a camera that will have a chance of actually have a chance at getting the shot.
Check out the Canon EOS D30 for what I would consider a -minimum-. HERE.
In addition to that, you'll also want/need, some different lenses, a good computer, some software like Photoshop and a good printer and the entire set up is probably in the $5k range. But, you get to sell your 8x10, 11x17 and even 13x19 photos about 1/2 hour after you land! Pretty freekin' cool!
