FrogNog 1 #26 June 4, 2005 HMA means High Modulus Aramid. I don't know what modulus in particular is being referred to, and I think but don't know that the term Aramid is a class of fibers which includes Kevlar(tm), among others. -=-=-=-=- Pull. FrogNog 1 #27 June 4, 2005 I guess these would be the details about Aramid (from http://www.fibersource.com/f-tutor/aramid.htm): Quote Federal Trade Commission Definition for Aramid Fiber: A manufactured fiber in which the fiberforming substance is a long-chain synthetic polyamide in which at least 85% of the amide (-CO-NH-) linkages are attached directly between two aromatic rings. ... Aramid Fiber Characteristics No melting point Low flammability Good fabric integrity at elevated temperatures Para-aramid fibers, which have a slightly different molecular structure, also provide outstanding strength-to-weight properties, high tenacity and high modulus. And, from other sources, I gather that the modulus spoken of here is resistance to stretching when under strain. The higher a fiber's modulus, the more it resists stretching under strain. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
masterrigger1 2 #28 June 5, 2005 I was know what HMA is, I was the first to have CSR spin some up for me almost three years ago. It is the second time I have seen HMA 2 refered to.
