Dates are wrong in Classifieds

Recommended Posts

I came to the forums to create the previous post, went back to the classifieds and the dates are current, but the ads are not the same. Somehow the ols adds are getting displayed. I even went to other pages and found ads posted in June with expiration dates in January...

I found the problem... If you use the menu bar to access the classifieds you go to this URL and the dates are current:
http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?d=1
If you use the classifieds link on the home page it goes to the older listings. That URL is:
http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi
The funny thing is they both look identical but when you select a category a different URL is selected. For instance:
http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=Complete_Systems/index.html&d=1
gets you to the current data, but
http://www.dropzone.com/classifieds/Complete_Systems/index.html
gets you to the Nov dates.
Hope this helps!!!

That's a good catch! The old pages that you are seeing are actually static pages that the script built back somewhere in last year.... you should never see them. The script set has the option to either build static HTML pages (like the Dropzone Database) or dynamically generate the pages from the database. This is what the Classifieds is supposed to do.
I'll fix the link that points to the static pages because those are simply not being built frequently. The Dropzone Database on the other hand has an automated process that builds the static pages every night.
