jumperconway 0 #1 October 24, 2002 Why do we have an incorrect story on Shannon's death on the home page where some WUFFOs don't past? My understanding of the accident was'nt a mal but an unconscious diver in a natural turn, turned spiral. The first articles said main malfunction and unable to deploy the reserve but we know different. Why not post the most correct account of the problems, unconscious diver not a mal? sangiro 4 #2 October 24, 2002 That was the official statement from the JFTC organisers. That's all I posted. Are you sure we know different... or is it just your understanding?Safe swoops Sangiro
jumperconway 0 #3 October 24, 2002 this was posted by Lisa. In Reply To Brakes were not released, both handles were in place. There were also reports from witnesses that she was limp under canopy. Don't know if there were hard housings in the risers. We may never know exactly what happened; we hope the autopsy will show something... In Reply To Keep in mind that some sizes/makes of canopies can (and often want to) start spinning if you open in a turn, even if they have no "conventional" mal. Some canopies will also continue to turn until corrective input is given. imho this is another risk you take on if you choose to jump what Kate referred to as a "weight shift" canopy.
