ast4711 0 #1 August 25, 2008 just be careful to check and thighten the drouge handle on your sigma drougs!!! Yesterday I lost the handle 30 jumps after I personally inspected the whole stuff... :-( Fortunately, someone had an old hand deploy with hackey and I was able to knot it to the drouge handle attachment point. Very, very ugly! But Bill, I bet it will hold at least the lifetime of the drouge :-) You will see an order for some drouge handles soon... alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
skydiverton2 0 #2 August 25, 2008 The manual says: throw the droque, not the handle Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . Also in case you jump a sport rig!!!
ast4711 0 #3 August 25, 2008 QuoteThe manual says: throw the droque, not the handle You are right. I considered to just grab the fabric to throw the drouge, but preferred to have some sort of handle... After a few jumps with my ugly extempore soft leather handle, I absolutely prefer the feeling of the hard handle which comes with the drouge...! alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
diablopilot 2 #4 August 25, 2008 If it's the old handle that used the wood screw to attach, it was bound to be lost sooner or later. The new handle has a bolt, washer, and lock nut.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. ast4711 0 #5 August 25, 2008 I`m pretty shure it was the newer design. At least the Drouge is just about a year old... alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
AggieDave 6 #6 August 26, 2008 This happens fairly often. The plastic handle cracks and leaves our world for whatever world that plastic handle goes to when it burns in by its self. I've seen a good handful of temporary replacements using PVC, cut off broom handle and the like. Even when you inspect and the screw is tight, sometimes you can't see the cracked plastic next to the screw and its a problem that will "fix" its self when you throw the drogue. It would be worthwhile for DZOs to keep a couple of spare handles around, just in case during a busy day. Just another part to the tandem system that's good to have laying around (freebags, handles, drogue, etc).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." johnny1488 1 #8 August 27, 2008 The way I fold my drouge, I grab the 1 inch tape on the handle, never the ball. I jumped a whole weekend with no handle cause we coundln't find an extra, with no problem. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" efs4ever 3 #9 September 3, 2008 I lost a handle years ago and just grabbed fabric to toss it. Fixed it after a while.Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
