skydiverek 58 #1 November 7, 2005 There are lots of tandem systems made (currently or previously) in the U.S. and outside of the U.S. Can you help me come up with the complete list? Just the names of the containers to start, maybe. NON-MILITARY: U.S.: - Vector (RWS), - Vector 2 (RWS), - Sigma (RWS), - Strong (Strong Enterproses), - Eclipse (Stunts Adventure Equipment), - Racer (Jump Shack), - Elan (coming soon from Strong Enterprises), Germany: - Next (Paratec): http://p4961.typo3server.info/25.1.html?&L=0, - Omega (Performance Variable): http://www.myskyshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/27/products_id/209, France: - Atom (Parachute de France): http://www.parachutes-de-france.com/sources/html/clients/fr/produit_t/100.html, U.K.: - Next (Thomas Sports Equipment): http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/416.html, Russia: - ParaAvis Tandem:http://www.paraavis.com/parachutes/rigs/spirit_tandem/img Chech Republic: - (the prototype shown during the last PIA). MILITARY: U.S.: - Special Operations Vector Multi Mission (RWS/CPS): http://www.cpsworld.com/images/uploads/brochure/mm.jpg - Special Operations Vector Tandem Sigma System (RWS/CPS): http://www.cpsworld.com/images/uploads/brochure/TS.jpg Any more for both military and non-military
 piisfish 135 #2 November 8, 2005 France : Advance Tandem www.basik.frscissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
 Ariosdagger 0 #3 November 8, 2005 There was even Ultra, probably from the UK (Ancestor of Next?), seen only once. BTW, I fund the pics of the Advance Tandem Rig here: http://www.basik.fr/article.php?lang=en&coderef=ADV002 I know that the one of the sport versions of Advance had NO RESERVE SIDE FLAPS. What seems to be flaps in the picture IS actually a FREEBAG! Pretty cool, huh? Is it the same on tandem, too? I am pretty sure (looks the same). Is it also the same rig that has a system similar in function to Skyhook, designed many years ago by Eric Fradet? From KellyF (http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=552275#552275): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The French system is very different from the Skyhook. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In what way, Bill? I have a Parafun Advance (a very nice rig, btw), and they mention they have something which has the same functionality as the skyhook in the manual -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never seen this system installed on a rig, but have seen a sample of it 8 or 9 years ago, so it may not be exactly the same. The Parafun system had a long pin installed on the bridle and further down (closer to the bag) there was a stiffened section with two loops on it. The RSL had a section with two grommets in it that the loops passed through, and then the pin was inserted through the loops to lock the RSL to the bridle. In a cutaway, the RSL would pull the bag out of the container and deploy the reserve, and in a total the reserve pilot chute would launch, tension the bridle (thereby removing the pin and disconnecting the RSL), and then extract the reserve from the container. My details may be a bit off, but that's the basic idea. In basic function, both systems work the same, they just go about it in different ways. The skyhook does add the Collins lanyard to the system for a bit of an advantage if the RSL riser breaks if the RSL riser breaks."
