I dunno when or in what publication(s) this ran, but advertising people even back then seemed to think skydiving might help sell stuff.
I'm guessing it's between 1959 and 1961 because the Bowl (built in 1962) was presumably not there.

I sent a copy to Daryl. He says Jacques Istel was driving a blue TR-3 at the time but probably planted the seed for the pictture.

I got my first TR-3A in October 1968... after my 1963 Impala SS was stolen..

This was a REALLLLLY stupid thing to do in Wisconsin....within two months the snow blowing around inside the car when driving to school forced me to go buy a beater with a heater. ( side curtains suck in WI in the winter)

I had several other TR-3's after that but they only were summer transportation

Amazon - Got mine second hand in Germany the same year for $600, brought it back to Florida, only put up the side curtains when the rain was REALLY hard. Trunk (boot) was just the right size for one set of gutter gear.

Got my TR-3A in 1966 for $600. Had a removable hard-top that I think was home built. Fun little car and easy to work on! My dad sold it for $600 while I was in the army so my brother wouldn't drive it without a license. Replaced it with a new 1968 Chevelle SS, 4-speed which cost $2,828.
