Canopy Add-Ins?

Recommended Posts

I have no idea why this memory popped into my head, but did anyone else ever pack additonal "stuff" into their canopy ... just to get a reaction? I remember dumping the contents of two cans of baby powder in between the panels of my PC, hoping to get an impressive "cloud" on opening. (There was cloud, but not as impressive as I'd hoped for.) So ... next came lots of long strips of toilet paper. THAT showed up better. I did it at a demo and got chewed out a bit because some of the wuffos though my parachute "done blowed up."

Yeah, I have also put talcum powder into a PC as I was flaking it, which really messes up a black canopy, which took several jumps to air out at terminal. More trouble than it was worth. I was always leery of putting anything else into a canopy.

At the nationals in Richmond in 1978 I filled Tommy Owens's canopy with grass just to see what he would do.
