Moving to Utah

Recommended Posts

Well.. I've got just under a month left in the Monterey area, where I'll leave behind the King Air at SMB and head off to Salt Lake City, UT. I've heard there are a few DZ's out that way.. but anyone from any of them? I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.. lived a lot of places in a lot of states... but this is a first for me. Anyhow.. gonna try to get in as many jumps as good weather and pay can afford before I make the move... but i'd love to talk to some folks from that area before I get there :)

Hey Hilary, welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately I'm from South Africa so i'm afraid i can't help you with advice on Salt Lake City DZ's but you might try making a post in the "events and places to jump" forum or use the search button and search for "salt lake city"

Good luck and have fun around here!
PJ :)

Hi,
Skydive Ogden flies a Grand Caravan and Skydive Utah, I believe is using a King Air. Although I do have a favorite, both are very good DZs. Both have a great view of the Great Salt Lake and surrounding mountains. Both have some awesome people there. I'd recommend giving them both a try. Of course there's always the winter trips to Skydive Mesquite (NV). Don't miss out on those too.

Oh, yeah, and they're about to open the wind tunnel in Ogden too.
Blues,
Nathan

I don't think that either dropzone is open past November and doesn't reopen until it starts warming up which was as early as Feb this year.
Jumping in super cold conditions sounds like a good idea until your body experiences -25 degree temp at altitude. The wind tunnel however might be a different story!
