pocketsx 0 #1 February 24, 2007 I'm going to be going to Italy this September and will be be traveling through most of the country. I was just wondering what the best DZ is. Since I will only be able to jump for a couple of days, I wanted to make sure I go to a good place. Thanks in advance Pete
MattFallsFast 0 #2 February 27, 2007 Skydive Tortuga in Arezzo - Olav is awesome and will make you feel at home. The town of Arezzo is just south of Florence, so it is definately on the way (just a 10 euro cab ride from the train station) and you get to see the bridge from the Mona Lisa in freefall (yes, there is a bridge in the background of the Mona Lisa...go look it up if you don't believe me). All around great vibe and really amazing food at the DZ cafe. Also check out Skydive Salerno south of Naples...although it is more difficult to get to by train and only open on weekends. Still, the view of the sea in freefall is unforgettable. On a clear day you see Mt Vesuvius and Capri/Ischia. Sardinia has a great DZ as well, if you will be out there. MattFallsFast 0 #4 February 28, 2007 If you happen to land out and find a pair of black Gatorz lying around in some vinyard, they're mine...lost them on a FF jump last March. :(
pocketsx 0 #5 March 1, 2007 If I find them i'll let you know. Is Arezzo a good place to stay or should i consider driving from Florence everyday? It looks like i'll be in Florence for a couple days before i go, so I could always just book my hotel for an extra couple days and just drive. Thanks again. kamalasound 0 #6 March 1, 2007 I would suggest you get more detailed information regarding Arezzo because Olav is no longer there nor is Manuel Basso. It still is a very nice DZ but not as busy as it was in the past. Molinella DZ near Bologna is very busy and now has a swoop pond. Bologna is an hour drive from Florence and the guys at the DZ are very friendly. If you are looking for the best DZ as for weather and views you then have to come and jump in Nettuno, just 40 km south of Rome. The Dz is just 500 metres off the beach and the views of the Pontine Islands are awesome. PM me for further info's. BTW,................ I jump in Nettuno. DJL 235 #7 March 1, 2007 Has anyone been to the DZ on Sardenga? I used to live near there and definitely am planning a return trip."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
kamalasound 0 #8 March 2, 2007 It looks as if there are going to be 2 DZ's in Sardinia this summer and both in the southern part just near Cagliari. In august the guys from Molinella fly their plane and crew to Castiadas and jump on the beach all day long. You will find info's regarding the DZ's on the website. DJL 235 #9 March 2, 2007 I occassionally see a boogie advertised for the current dz. I'm not sure if ever got that far south when I lived there. We were on the island of La Maddalena."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
MattFallsFast 0 #10 March 2, 2007 Both Olav and Manuel are gone?! Wow, a lot changes in a few months... Still recommend it for proximity to Florence and they have a nice bunkhouse. Matt --Just beware, the manifest at Tortuga aren't the friendliest of people...you know, you should hit some of the Boogies instead.
Marios 0 #11 March 2, 2007 I am going to their Easter Boogie. I was given exact dates after the boogie to do some coaching with Olav. Are you sure that he is gone???
