I was supposed to be there but I broke my leg instead. also make sure you make first laod as apparently it gets really windy after that. Cheers and Blues. crotalus01 0 #4 December 3, 2004 Skydive Hawaii on the North Shore is a beautiful DZ, very cool people there as well. i did 3 tandems there in July (my first 3 jumps). they have a KingAir and a Cessna 182 (i think its a 182). on my first two jumps it was windy and we got out about 3/4 mile over the ocean. absolutely beautiful...then add the mountains in the background - what else could you want? mikecm469 1 #5 December 4, 2004 My brother and I both made a couple of jumps there this past summer. We went to Pacific Skydiving Center, which is at the same place as Skydive Hawaii. Like other have said, it's best to get there first thing in the morning. Pacific shuts down opertions when there are no more tandems for the day, so you might only get in a couple of jumps. Plus the trade winds change directions in the winter and you have more of a chance of a water landing, in the case of a bad spot. You do have a couple of options for off landings, though. My brother ended up landing on the beach on our final jump there, and a couple of the tandems landed at the Polo Field to the E (I think that's the direction). kjarv 0 #6 December 22, 2004 Hiya! I 'grew up' at Pacific Skydiving (jumps 20-120 ish) Pacific Skydiving had (has?) a better airplane--super king air, really fast to altitude... I usually used their airplane until they were done with tandems and shutdown, then bebopped over to Skydive Hawaii if the winds were still okay. The winds are a challenge there-- as the day goes on they usually get worse. The nice thing is though, they are usually steady winds...you gotta really watch out for gusty days. I was looking at Skydive Hawaii's website and it looks like they cut down the evil trees that created nasty rotors in the primary landing area so you've got that going for ya.
