The DZ fought with the CCAA long and hard to have the ban removed just for the event.sadly they failed. Anyhow, they're trying to get an AN12 in for this weekend to at least get some jumps in before the ban commences. If you can make it for 2 or 3 days, get yourself there and enjoy. pinkpanther 0 #4 September 18, 2003 Here's latest info from the MD of the DZ - hot off the press: HI ALL I regret that I have to be the bearer of bad news. As you know we expected a German team to come and break their national record of a 120 way in Umm Al Quwain. We had warning about a Ban 4 weeks before the event with provisional approval from the GCAA. They required us to obtain 2 letters from the ministries and that is where the bureaucracy started. 2 Days before the event we were told that it will not be possible. I then tried to shift the first 3 days to Quesm Island but without success. We had to phone 135 Germans last night to inform them of the situation. We are now trying to get some of them here for next weekend. There is some indication that they are prepared to come and if there is sufficient numbers I will get the AN12 in for 2 days. We can only start jumping on the 26th (Friday). And we will most probably jump for 3 days. The Caravan will be ready on Friday as well and the New Instructor arrived this morning. Our new packing area is ready and will be carpeted on Saturday morning. So lets make next Friday a day to remember. The rigger will be here for another 5 days so if you gear is not here then you will loose out. The cost of a reserve pack will be AED 220 and that will not even cover my cost of bringing him out here.
