New Jumpsuit

Recommended Posts

Check out Square 1 - they have stock freefly suits for cheap. I just got one, and I like it a lot. Also check out the classified ads for used suits.

BUT BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THIS, talk to your instructors to find out what you need. Don't waste your money before knowing what's best for you.

Tony Suits seem to be the most popular. They cost a little more and take a little longer to get (just checked the website they do have the 4 week rush available again) but from what I've been told they are great suits.

I have a Bodysport jumpsuit. It was a little less and I was able to get it in 4 weeks (Tony's rush wasn't available at the time) It's a great jumpsuit I really like it. Another reason I went with bodysport is because they had a color I thought Tony Suits didn't have, only to talk to Tony a few weeks later and find out they have the color just on a sporadic basis.

Both also offer freefly suits if thats what you are looking for.

Those are the only ones that I know of off the top of my head. Not a comprehensive list but should give you an idea.

I was thinking on getting that multispeed suit. I don't really remember the maker but I saw it in the USPA magazine. Supposedly you change the speed with zippers. But that was just a thought. Like I said before, I would like a suit that does belly and freefly well enough for me to learn and get better. But belly fly right now is my main concern.

I would suggest that you get something inexpensive (used perhaps) until you're sure what you want to do. Also this 'provisional' time will allow you to assess (with the help of others) if you need a normal, fast, or slow suit. Buying an inappropriate type of suit can make you think you totally suck when you only sort of suck and have an improper suit for your body type and flying style.

I would personally say stick to your belly for your first 200 jumps you are positive you want to free fly.

Well this is what I was told when I was trying to decide.... You can freefly in shorts and a tshirt and it wont hinder you as much as flying belly in shorts and a tshirt. Get the belly suit with booties and worry about freefly later.

I still havent gotten a freefly suit. ;)

Eh, i respectfully disagree :). Furthermore, there are SO many speed ranges while freeflying (high 130s- 180s), having drag also helps you control your fall rate much better if/when you need to slow up without corking which otherwise could potentially injure yourself or another.

Edit: If you have 0 interest in freeflying in the next couple hundred jumps and want to focus on really getting crisp on your belly, go for the booties like stuntbabex said :)
