DanG 1 #26 October 3, 2008 For most people I teach forward motion with hands in the neutral position. You shouldn't have to pull your hands back to move forward. If you do, you either have very short legs, or are just not extending them properly. I realize students may not be able to sense a 90 degree angle on their own, that's why I help them with it on the ground until they can feel it. The tunnel is also a fantastic tool to get the basic body position down without introducing bad habits. IMHO, pulling your arms in to go forward is a bad habit. - Dan G
chrismgtis 0 #27 October 3, 2008 This is me in the tunnel this past January. Next time in the tunnel I plan to work on my arms too. I never realized what my arms were really doing until seeing the video from the tunnel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E03DYYANKRQ Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
PeregrineFalcon 0 #28 October 3, 2008 Yeah, my AFFI teaches extending the legs before moving the arms back. After graduation and solo, I did a coach jump with him and he wanted me to come forward just using my legs. That's the pic in my avatar. To the guy with the wind tunnel video, I learned quite a bit just watching that. Thanks.
