Should I be scared???

Recommended Posts

Scared is normal; seen it in most students - but not all. They jump anyway because of the perceived rewards.

What is always present for newbies is stress and anxiety. A person would have to be dead not to feel anxious and stressed for at least the first few jumps.

Most can manage these things if they choose to do so and get good training. For a few the experience is so overwhelming as to impede concious awareness. They should not jump.

i started jumping at 16. i was Fucking terrified. i wasn't old enough to do a tandem so i stated an IAD program... One thing my Instructor made me do to relax was he made me sing happy Birthday to myself as i climbed out on the strut of the Cessna 182. I actually worked and my body position was flawless. If your planning on becoming a student i highly recommend this method... if your doing a tandem.... Hell, maybe Your TI will sing to you :)

good luck. Blue Skies to ya...
