The US has declared an all out war against China in the area of AI and semiconductor technology. It just halted the export of the highest performing

"Chip designer Nvidia said that US officials told it to stop exporting two top computing chips for artificial intelligence work to China, a move that could cripple Chinese firms’ ability to carry out advanced work like image recognition.

The company on Wednesday said the ban, which affects its A100 and H100 chips designed to speed up machine learning tasks, could interfere with completion of developing the H100, the flagship chip Nvidia announced this year."

There will be a retaliation from China.

Should the US restrict such sales of chips and semiconductor manufacturing to a corrupt dictatorial state like China? Led by a president for life Xi.

If hostility between the west led by the US and China goes too far it will change the trajectory of science and tech in ways we can't yet know. Our way of life has become tightly intertwined with products that depend on Chinese output. And it is pretty clear that will only increase. It's very hard to know what is the right way to go.

Completely agree. As the professor has said China leads the world in patents. But Taiwan, the Uighurs, China's Russia support, intellectual property theft, etc. All suggest there should be some sort of unified response.

China will be huge buyers of grains, oilseeds and other foodstuffs this year. As they deal with the worst drought in a century. They just finished boycotts on Canadian grain.Australian-China iron/coal wars still persist.
