Is Trump already a lame duck president?

Recommended Posts

Donald Trump may just have achieved another first -- but this isn't one he will like. He may be on the verge of becoming the first president to be considered a "lame duck" within the first two months of his presidency.

If you define a "lame duck" president as someone who lacks the political capital to turn his ideas into policy, you might want to stick a fork in Trump because he's done -- at least for now.

Where is the trump budget????
The trump budget is gone. No promotion of it. No selling of it.

" the Trump 2018 budget released last Tuesday completely disappeared from view before the start of the Memorial Day weekend just three days later.

By Wednesday, that is, the day after the Trump budget was unveiled, it was clear that there was little Republican (and even less Democratic) enthusiasm for what the president had proposed.

The next day, the only real budget-related news was that Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin -- the two cabinet members with the Trump administration's primary fiscal policy responsibilities -- had dramatically different views about if and how tax reform would be paid for."

trump's budget lasted as long as a blind lame duck on the first day of Texas duck hunting season. DOA.

"Lame Duck" is a term which refers to a specific period between the President being voted out of office and him actually leaving.

In that regard, no.

He is pretty fucking lame though.

He might be leaving sooner than 2020.

If that happens, he's not going to be a lame duck. He's going to be a number on an orange jumpsuit.

Here's hoping.

As much as I would like for this to be true, I think we are saddled with von Clownstick for the next 43 months. With Republicans focused more on the source of the leaks rather than the content combined and the Dems attempting to paint almost everything as conspiratorial, Mueller is going to have to produce a smoking gun so to speak in order to remove Trump. I don't think his own ego will let him resign and so the hard evidence, not the overwhelming circumstantial evidence, will be necessary to highlight his political liability to the Republicans. Trump, the unorthodox candidate that he his, has substantially changed the standards for what others consider a political liability and he clearly hasn't pushed the envelope enough to have the Republicans abandon the party. The fear of being labeled a traitor to the party or being seen as weak for working bipartisan efforts still exceeds the fall out of being associated with a Trump loyalists.

The next few years are going to be long and arduous. America will continue to remove itself from its former global standing through willful acts and sheer incompetence of the PotUS to the thunderous applause of his supporters.

The Russian strategic goal of a multipolar world in which it rightfully resumes its place as a world leader at the expense of US and European interests is almost complete.
