DrewGPM 0 #2 November 30, 2005 The article says "Nobody is clear on what has gone wrong", but then mentions the Little Ice Age(LIA), 1300-1850. Unfamiliar with that term, I did a little searching around. Seems like the LIA research is all we need. http://www2.sunysuffolk.edu/mandias/lia/determining_climate_record.html very interesting stuff. lawrocket 3 #3 December 1, 2005 I did a handy-dandy little explanation of the "Little Ice Age" in this post. I even attached some nice multicolored line graphs! My wife is hotter than your wife.
mr2mk1g 10 #4 December 1, 2005 Who'da thought it. American's being 10 years behind the times on climate change news. Christ, Bush Senior was in office when the rest of us heard about this.
nacmacfeegle 0 #5 December 1, 2005 Things have moved on a little, the Americans are now way ahead of us in understanding this phenomenon.. Mankind cannot be affecting the climate. Neither can it be a naturally evolving situation. What we have here is a clear example of intelligent cooling, now get with the program!-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. lawrocket 3 #6 December 1, 2005 QuoteBush Senior was in office when the rest of us heard about this. Which puts you about 15years behind the Americans. Recall that global cooling and a new pending "Ice Age" was the reason for the first Earth Day back in the 70's. So while you all were still choking on London Fog, we were sending acid rain up to Canada and across The Pond. Hell, it even forced kallend to move here. My wife is hotter than your wife. mr2mk1g 10 #7 December 1, 2005 That's a totally different phenomena though. This current thread is all about the threat that melting ice floes down the Eastern Seaboard of the US will divert the Gulf Stream Southerly which currently hits the UK broadside. Take away the Gulf Stream and London's on the same latitude as Moscow. You're confusing two different mechanisms. The ice age this thread is concerned about would come about as a result of global warming - not global cooling.

mr2mk1g 10 #11 December 2, 2005 hairy muff. Was only poking fun in my posts anyway To be fair when I joked about yanks being behind the times on this "news" there was a copy of the Times staring at me with the same story on it's front page.

mr2mk1g 10 #13 December 2, 2005 The Times. Sometimes erroneously referred to as "The London Times" in American popular culture. It's name is simply "The Times"... the rest are just local knock-offs.
