flyangel2 2 #26 September 7, 2005 Quoteswampthingy, flyangel, airtwaldo Let me go over to speakers corner and get some more, I saw plenty over there. Just because they didn't spell it out "they got what they deserved", they didn't show any compassion thinking that all those left behind had the ways and means to get out. Not everyone in america has a trust fund or rich relative's, etc. Wow! You need to go back and re-read what I have written over the last few days. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1813365;#1813365 QuoteI am shocked to read some of the comments here. These people now have nothing. They are human beings and fellow Americans. My heart goes out to them. I hope and pray that any of you that are saying they should have gotten out, they should have saved money to figure it out, etc...... That you are never in a situation like so many of our fellow Americans are in. May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey

heidihagen 0 #32 September 8, 2005 QuoteQuoteWell, apparently it seems not all could leave despite wanting to. *** This guy had three days to start WALKING! Good thing he called his mommy for help huh?! What ever happen to personal responsibility ?? What about the 30+ nursing home residents that died because they were abandoned in their beds? Did they have a choice? I guess they should have just pulled themselves out of their beds and started crawling - hell they had 3 days. j i'm mad they didn't get them to safety before hand. a friend of mine worked in new orleans when this happened.. she just got out a few days ago. anyway, she's a nurse in the critical unit and they didn't leave. but after the hurricane, they started transferring patients to other hospitals. should be no big deal right? i mean, most were being kept alive with hand pumps anyway, what could possible go wrong? well, whenever they went out to airlift a patient, someone from below started shooting at the helicopter. they didn't shoot every time the heli lifted off, but you get the idea in those kind of conditions... stay or go, stay or go... seems like a toss up to me!i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
slug 1 #33 September 8, 2005 Hi heidi There's lots of confusion during the fog of battle. Were the choppers actually being shot at, don't know, maybe yes maybe no. Has anyone seen a chopper in NO with bullet holes? Back in the day, or once upon a time, we were in a place we didn't want to be A crewmember saw a rocket being launced in our direction Almost shit my pants. What the guy actually saw was the tracers from one of our gun ships (in the air) hoseing the bad boys down. I'm not second guessing why the choppers didn't go in if they thought they were being fired on thats good enough for me. Is the chopper/hospital story a myth? I do know the rumor about the banks being closed on monday was true. R.I.P.
flyangel2 2 #34 September 8, 2005 Quotei'm mad they didn't get them to safety before hand. From the reports I have seen on T.V. the director of the Rest Homes thought that since they had been okay during other hurricanes, they would be able to ride this one out as well. Bottom line, too many people thought they could ride it out. They had done that before, why not again. We now know it was a mistake. Now when there is another hurricane headed towards the United States, do you think people will listen to the warnings? Who knows, most times people think that awful stuff only happens to the "other people." I hope we have all learned from these terrible events.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. If they were gonna be "so OK" during this storm that had a MANDITORY evacuation, where the fuck were they? These people need to be charged.. No excuse. They left helpless people that they were in charge of taking care of behind and got the fuck out. People that DEPENDED on them. FGF #??? I miss the sky...
