rsmn17 0 #1 August 26, 2005 I have a friend who had a collapsed lung (spontaneous pneumothorax) about 2 years ago. He had surgery to remove 5% of one lung. His doctor has cleared him to fly. I was wondering if anyone knows if skydiving could possibly cause this to happen again.
freefalle 0 #2 August 26, 2005 spontaneous pneumothorax are just that, spontaneous. They commonly occur in males, who are tall and fairly thin in good shape. Yes there is a chance he could have another, unlikely but just because he has had one doesn't mean that he will have another. Tell him to consult his DR ( which it sounds like he has) and go from there.
