Recommended Posts

Saw this in the Boston Globe this afternoon. Anyone know what happened?

A 51-year-old man was involved in a skydiving accident yesterday at the Pepperell airport, according to Pepperell police. Yes, in consideration I won't release his name either, but he is a regular
at the DZ and very well liked. He was demo-ing a new canopy (a Stiletto) and
made a turn that was too close to the ground on final. He had no time to
recover and impacted legs first and then flipped causing lower body injuries
and head trauma. His condition is stable at this time and things look
hopeful.
We pray for his speedy recovery and hope all is well for him and his family.

Unfortunately this incident didn't have a good outcome. The skydiver's name was Chuck Parsons and he was a very well-liked, witty, brilliant happy guy who loved skydiving. From reports I've read on our local skydive banter it appears he was trying a new canopy and hooked it in. He had injuries from head to toe and was braindead and taken off life support after donating organs. I didn't know him personally but some of my friends did. He was my skydiving brother any which way and my heart breaks for him and his family. :(
Please be careful out there, people.
Tears.....
Skies and fluffies,
D :P

God this hurts. I know ~30 a year means ~3 a month, but it's still such a shock to hear about it.
My thoughts, my prayers, my feelings, my heart...? I can't find the right words.
"If I leave here tomorrow,
Would you still remember me?
But I must be traveling on now,
There's too many places I've got to see.
If I stay here with you,
Things just couldn't be the same.
I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you cannot change."
Blue skies forever Chuck.

Yes, I was pretty shocked to hear the outcome as well yesterday. It was hard to tell from conflicting reports what was going to happen so we could only hope for the best.
I feel so, so bad and yet it bothers me so much that it had to be a hook turn under a Stiletto 135 that he was supposedly demoing. What a damn shame. Please be careful everyone....
My condolences go out to his family, friends, teammates and everyone at Pepperell.
Blue skies forever brother Chuck.
