But at least from what I understand - it is current production technology that is massively tuned to it's application. And I think that is part of the appeal of the sport - again, from what I understand of the sport - the laws on what can be changed on the car limits the arms race mentality that has gotten a hold of the openwheel racers with regard to such things as engine development and modification.
