ADRNALN 0 #1 April 11, 2002 Looks like I may be in Napa next weekend and I would like to get a couple of jumps at a new DZ. Can anybody give me some feedback on Lodi or any other Bay Area DZs?THNX
Sebazz1 2 #2 April 11, 2002 This is a tough question because all the Bay Area DZ's have thier individual characteristics that make em cool...Lodi - Up jumpers paradise, lots of big twin turbine planes, make sure you have experience before going here, gets hot out here, non USPA DZByron - Great up jumper DZ too, one king air sometimes two, things can get backed up, gets hot out hereSanta Rosa - Not enough infoHollister - Great vibe, good people, exellent student DZ, off airport landing but you get used to itMonterey - One of the nicest super twin otters around, beautiful view and i mean it - it's pretty down here, not a large up jumper crowd though, fog can be an issue, (I am a JM here on the weekends), lots to do down here beside jumpingSEBAZZ....... flyhi 24 #3 April 11, 2002 What about Skydive Skydance in Davis? flyhi"To understand Mankind, you must look at its two root words; Mank and Ind."
Sebazz1 2 #4 April 11, 2002 Ooops my bad.......Skydance - Caravans, good crowds, gets hot there too, I've only been there once. Ask LummyLodi has Bill Dause a skydiving icon and Skydance has Ray Farrel another icon..........SEBAZZ.......
mattb 0 #5 April 11, 2002 Had a lot of fun at Lodi when I went with only 30 or so jumps. It was January so it was a bit slow but coming from Chicago I felt it was very warm. Can't compare it to anyplace else in the Bay Area. Was renting gear and had to jump a bigger canopy than I was used to but surprises other than that.-mb
ADRNALN 0 #6 April 11, 2002 Looks like Monterey is the place. I just talk to my buddy out there and he said the view alone would make it worth the drive. Sebazz thanks for the great response!!!!!!! Hope to see you there next weekend.
ADRNALN 0 #7 April 11, 2002 You were in the same boat that I am right now about 30 jumps all at SDC. Luckily I bought a rig last week so I won't have any rental issues.
Sebazz1 2 #8 April 11, 2002 I look forward to seeing you. I am at Monterey every weekend. If the fog stays we road trip for 40 minutes over to Hollister. I got your back bro. See you next weekend. PM me if you need a place to stay.SEBAZZ.......
lummy 4 #9 April 11, 2002 SkyDance is the closest to where you will be (about a half n hour east) It's a cool place, they have 2 caravans and a 182. What's goin on next weekend? 3D Hybrids by invitation it looks like. Friday nite is pizza party nite. More RW'ers there than FF. On clear days, you can see SF (and GG bridge) in the distance and the Sierra's the other way. You always see lake BerryessaByron is the only other place I can directly comment on and it's a nice DZ too, 2 king Airs and more FF'ers. Tends to get winded out a bit but I think that's more the winter months?Monterey is supposed to be really nice, and I plan on getting down there relatively soon. the only problem is that is is about a 3 hour drive from Napa. Call ahead since like Sebazz said, the coast can get fogged in all day. either way, have fun. Seb, when are you doing the 15k for 15 again?Conjunction Junction, what's your function? ADRNALN 0 #10 April 12, 2002 You people make it so tuff to decide. Lake Berryessa, now that bring back memories. Plus, the savings in time alone is a good reason. Who knows where I will end up? But thanks for the replies.
