dgw 8 #1 March 1, 2012 Folks, I happenstanced across this curiosity on eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Parachute-canopy-/290677863778?pt=UK_SportingGoods_OtherSports&hash=item43adc03562 It's a PD160 reserve canopy without a line set. Any thoughts as to why such a canopy would be lineless? Damage? Decommissioned? (I'm not thinking about buying it, but I have never seen a reserve canopy with the lines removed)
councilman24 36 #2 March 1, 2012 The first assumption is that it was sold as a car cover and the lines removed to keep someone from using it. Data label should have been removed also. or you buy it and send it to PD for the history and testing. and may be lines.I'm old for my age. likestojump 3 #3 March 1, 2012 The most common reason to find something like that in the US would be that it was used by a government agency and was "De-miled" by removing the lines. Many times those canopies will also have an ink stamp of the owner agency. I am assuming a similar is possible in the UK. I wouldn't chance trying to make this airworthy again :)
