kai2k1 0 #1 November 7, 2003 I was wondering what exactly is a FIREWIRE port and how difficult it would be for me to install one on my DELL? Thanks There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
PhreeZone 15 #2 November 7, 2003 Simple. Get a Firewire PCI card at bestBuy (about $30) and install it. Directions and a CD are in the package. Total time is about 20 minutes. If its a laptop its different.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Magistr8 0 #4 November 7, 2003 FireWire or (1394) is a high speed connection that send info in both directions at the same time at a rate 400Mb/s. It is used almost exclusively for your video camera. THIS IS FASTER THAN USB. VERY FAST IN GENERAL To install one is really not very hard. All you need to do it get a PCI card ( those work in Desktop PC's) and put it in your computer. After that is done, put the case back on and insert the disk when asked and you are good to go. The retail at BB for about 49 dollars CAN. P.S.Firewire 2 just came out and offers speeds of 800Mb/s. Hope this helps. "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." Napoleon Bonaparte
