lummy 4 #1 August 23, 2004 Hey fellow propeller heads, I could use some input on the following topic, Network quarantine control. I'm looking at possibly implementing a software based quarantine network either using AD and MS stuff or possibly a Unix solution. MS has a white paper on the subject clicky :) Has anyone implemented this solution or something similar? I work for a small graduate school and money is tight (unless some corporate donor would like to make a donation.. hint hint) so a hardware based solution is probably not going to happen. Also, my boss is a Unix die hard (which is totally cool since I'll enjoy the brain drain) whereas I'm the MS kinda guy. Regardless, this sounds like an interesting solution to a real problem, especially when school is back in session and all those know it alls (aka students) trash my network ;)I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. mnealtx 0 #4 August 24, 2004 <Disclaimer: I am not a network guy - I just support them> Our network over here matches DHCP leases to MAC addresses. They also have "flytraps" set up to snag unauthorized computers. HOW they have said flytraps set up, I don't know.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
