repcool 2 #1 January 7, 2009 A friend of mine is getting married and fancies her wedding dress to be partly made out of parachute material. We were thinking a decomissioned reserve (white) would be perfect. If there is any chance of a donation of such a canopy then I would be happy to pay shipping. hackish 8 #2 January 7, 2009 You might have an easier time with an old retired T-10 or similar found at an army surplus. I believe a round would be easier to deal with even though I know nothing about dressmaking :) -Michael

Nightingale 0 #4 January 7, 2009 What about looking at something like this:http://www.surplusandadventure.com/shopscr1306.html Silk parachute material would be easier than F-111 fabric for a wedding dress, and it'll probably drape better and is going to be more versatile to work with, especially if she's using a regular dress or wedding dress pattern. Parachute silk wedding dresses were actually somewhat common back in the 1940s when textiles were scarce!
