airtwardo 6 #1 May 19, 2005 Just got back from a week in Norway... As always when we travel, we were on the High Speed ~ See Everything...Norway in a Nut Shell plan. Stopped in a little town call Voss, during lunch I noticed they have a DROPZONE there! Took a short ride to the airport...it was raining a little, but I always like to at least stop and pick up some vibes at any DZ's I happen to come across when traveling. Walked into the club house where a few jumpers were lounging around... "We don't have a Tandem Instructor here, but can call one if you would like to jump," the manager said as we walked in. "No thanks...I'm an experienced jumper. Just passing through and wanted to stop and take a look around if it's okay," I said. After pouring us a cup of coffee...he says~ Glad you stopped, we need a fourth for a demo in town...here's a rig! It's a beautiful town on a lake...right off a postcard! The mountains are right at 2500 feet which was where the ceiling was hanging. I'm kneeling next to the pilot during climb out, and he's asking if 2500 is okay, or to low for me... I said, for a free jump in Norway...I'd do a drag off at a grand Ready to have some fun?! he yells... I figured he meant getting to Skydive... He didn't.... A couple of perfect snap rolls in the 182 later... I have that stupid 'Perma-Grin' going. COOL! I screeched in a bit high voice that usual. You must have done that before, the pilot smiled... Usually Americans get all serious when I do that. Yeah, BTDT ...my wife is an areobatic pilot, I told him. At 2500' over the lake...Cut & C-YA! 1/2 dozen front loops out the door and open... a quick aerial tour of the park, and down on the "X". We went back to the DZ, the pilot took my better 1/2 over to his hangar to show off his 'Christian Eagle' and talk flying..he's the top aerobatic competitor in Norway. I hung with the jumpers for a couple hours trading stories... Certainly got my "VIBES" that day! What a GREAT bunch of people!! If you've never been there...ADD IT TO THE LIST! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

freekflyguy 0 #4 May 20, 2005 I did 3 tours of Norway "Ex Hardfall North" from 85 to 87. Only ever went there between Jan and Mar but what an amazing place. I hope to jump there some day, and see it in the summer. Voss is great, been there a couple of times. The Norwieians are probably the most welcoming people I have ever met, and I would recomend as trip there whole heartedly. Did you get to tey Glug whilst you were there??? Unfortunatly the only Norwegian I learned was Jai elske dai, and will du eslke mid mei. Im not sure if thats the correct spelling. Norge was only superceded as my favourite place in the world when I went to San Diego in 04. BuzzIt's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
