BeattheDrums 0 #1 August 17, 2005 Can it be done? Heres the situation... My friend has a Desktop Running Windows XP and an I book. And One cable modem. Both computers work well on thier own but when they both get plugged into the Cable modem only one works usually which ever one boots first or is plugged in first. Im wondering if they would need a special router in addition to the Cable modem to get both machines up and running. And would it be possible for them to Network them together for file sharing and print sharing. I know this could be hard to answer because I dont have all the details like which Mac OS and things of that nature but If I know what I need to ask I can find out tomorrow Thanks A thunder of jets in a clear blue sky, a streak of gray and a cheerful "Hi"
Frenchy68 0 #2 August 17, 2005 Go wireless. You can network, surf the web, etc... Or a router. Mine works with both usb and ethernet. But like everyone says get a router and you should be well away, slightly more complex when file sharing, but get the router first then worry about that.__________________ BOOM Headshot
