councilman24 36 #1 June 2, 2007 Anybody know if tying instructions for the four line release on a C-9 in a Butler Seat are published anywhere? I've got all the manuals that are on line and can't find it. Doesn't mean it's not in there. It a continuous line sewn to a suspension line about the links, used to tie two lines to the link for the four line release and then the same line continues down the riser to use as a steering line. So, it's not tied the same as the old water's four line release. That I have instructions for. It can't be and be continuous like it is. It kind of looks okay but considering the previous rigger I'd like to be able to check it. Any help?I'm old for my age. masterrig 1 #2 June 2, 2007 For the heck of it, have you checked Poynter's vol. I? I know, 4-Line releases are covered there. Chuck

councilman24 36 #4 June 2, 2007 Thanks, Where the hell did you find the speed 4 line? I don't think I've ever seen that but that's what's on these. riggerrob 561 #5 June 4, 2007 Yes, Butler says to tie a series of daisy chains. Secure the first and last (and steering toggle/loop) with red sealing thread.
Genn 0 #6 June 5, 2007 Anytime- glad I could help. Information provided by Handsome Dave DeWolf during his riggers course in PA.
drjump 0 #7 June 5, 2007 The "speed" picture looks exactly like the Military 4-line release used on 28' pilot rigs! The FAA used to require a letter of authorization before a rigger could install this system on an emergency rig.
Genn 0 #8 June 24, 2008 Hi Everyone, I know this is an old thread. But, I was referencing Poynter's Vol.I today and came across the info on the speed links. For future reference: Poynter's Vol. I, 6.2.11, p.251 "GQ Security's method includes steering lines in the release system"
