SpeedRacer 1 #1 December 12, 2006 Why do cats & dogs need annual checkups & vaccinations, but not humans? I haven't had a complete physical exam in almost 4 years now. And I seem to only get vaccinations for myself like once every 5 years or so. I'm as healthy as can be, & so are my two cats. so why do they say pets need exams & vaccinations every year??? why should I get medical treatment for my cats more often than I get it for myself??? skycat 0 #2 December 12, 2006 Well some of the shots only protect them for one year, like rabies and parvo. We do not get vacinated for rabies because hopefully we are smart enough not to go run free in the woods and play with all the fun fuzzy critters that live there. As for getting a check up every year.....well ever woman does or is suppose to.Fly it like you stole it!

StreetScooby 5 #5 December 12, 2006 My cats go outside at will. So, rabies is a must on a regular basis. Plus, deworming, since they are pretty good hunters. My tomcat actually got a woodpecker the other day (...don't know how).We are all engines of karma

SmilingPhoenix 0 #7 December 12, 2006 QuoteMine are indoor cats. Talk to your vet. I've heard that indoor pets don't need as many shots since they aren't in contact with other animals and I am of the mind that the fewer shots they have to get, the better - hey, if I don't like needles, why would they? As for the annual exams, just because you don't take care of yourself doesn't mean your pets should suffer Because life is an adventure - it may not be the one you planned, but then it wouldn't be an adventure! MarkM 0 #8 December 12, 2006 Because pets can't complain to us about issues so they need to be checked out more often. And humans should be going in for regular checkups once a year or two. Depends on how old you are.
