19.95 TracFones at Wal-Mart. Buy your time with cash at the store, or use a credit card on line to add minutes to it.
Wal-Mart also has Virgin Wireless and at least one other option. They're about the same.
Check them out online with a search for "prepaid cellphones".

I agree with Gene, hell, even the convenience stores here in TX have pre-paids any phone that i could give you, you would have to activate with cingular (at&t) and it just wouldn't be worth it for the time you will be here. On a side note, enjoy your time here!
