Can someone explain this to me?

Hello there!

I happen to work for a large cable company in San Diego. It is very possible to have your high speed internet working and your digital cable not working.
If you have a cable box-you should undo the coax cable and unplug the box for at least one minute. then hook up the coax, then the power to the box. If after the box boots up and you still have no cable-I would call your cable company and let them know aqbout the problem-they can't fix it if they don't know about it!

Good luck to you!

I had a similar problem a while back and did what you suggested, which worked, but only for a limited time and I'd have to repeat...cable company had to come in and install a signal booster box thingie.

OK, I have a question for you.

This seems to be the first course of action in most cable problems. And in most problems I've had, that fixes it. WHY THEN, don't they put some kind of master disconnect switch on the boxes ?? "Unplugging" the thing is so last century!

Hey! A master kills switch is a great idea! It is kind of amazing with all of this great technology that these brainiacs havent thought of that!

Until that happens, a surge protector works pretty well. You can hook everything up to it and just hit the switch. They work great for modems and routers too!
