BillyVance 34 #2 April 29, 2008 Quote On any size sheet of paper. Anybody ever tried it. Got bored at work and tried again. Just can't get past that 7th fold. You're right, that is impossible with standard copy paper if you fold it in half every time. But, I can get 7 folds if I fold it in half length-wise, and again the same direction, and again, up to 4 times, until you have a strip about an inch wide, maybe a little less, then fold that in half, and again and again. 7's the max that way. fpritchett64 0 #3 April 29, 2008 I just tried again, not folding in half, more of a roll type fold each time, but got 9 that way...guess it doesn't count since it's not really a crease in each fold
shropshire 0 #4 April 29, 2008 Mythbusters did this... Busted I think but I don't remember the final count. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome

snakeeater 0 #12 April 29, 2008 so with a paper 0.1 mm thick, it's 112 million kilometers. that's about as far as from here to the sun. back in 5th grade, I found that quite jaw-dropping.. "He tried to kill me! He tried to f***ing kill me!"
HeadCone 0 #13 April 29, 2008 Wikipedia: A popular belief holds that it was impossible to fold a sheet of paper in half more than 7 times; usually it is difficult to reach even 6 times. This has been publicly debunked by a high school student named Britney Gallivan, using toilet paper and folding it in "Single Direction Folding". The television series MythBusters busted the myth of the 7 folds by folding taped together sheets in half and turning it 90 degrees each time, for a total of 11 folds. This was accomplished using 17 large rolls of paper taped together to form a very large yet relatively thin "sheet." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_folding --Head-- Turn off the internet!
