Rant for the day....

HMO'S Referrals from a PCP office to another a Specialist.

1.It isn't an easy process with some insurances and they take time. Referrals are done in date order and may take up to a week before completed.

2.You can't go to any doctor you want to, they have to be contracted with your insurance. Doesn't matter if you have been going to them for 20 yrs, if your insurance changes and they are not a participant the PCP office can not get an auth for the visit. If you decide to go to that doctor anyways it is on you. Any and all test that doctor might order are not covered by your insurance. Don't turn around and scream at the PCP office when you have a received a bill and were told this prior to you seeing the said doctor.

Rant over....

We get the same thing with the damn civilian dependents and Tricare. They always want to go to THEIR doctor even after being told that doc isnt covered by Tricare then bitch when they go anyway and end up with a bill.

At least you dont have to listen to the "Well my husbands serving the country" bullshit. Guess what cupcake, so am I.

Several years ago, and I mean when PCP's and managed care were a rarity rather than the norm, I was walking through my front office area and heard yelling along a similar line. I stopped and asked the problem. The person calmed down because they we're now dealing with the boss and not who they saw as some lackey. Once the problem was explained I calmly asked them to go home and get the contract package that their ins. co. had sent them. Asked them to read through it and find my name and when they did to bring it to me. They asked why, to which I responded, "you won't find it. That is a contract between you and the ins. co., not with me. You are responsible to understand that contract. We sent the forms as a courtesy."
I realize all this has changed in the last couple decades but it still doesn't change the fact that most people don't have a clue how their insurance works.

Rant over.;)

It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

You know, I used to be a dumbass just like that. I found that talking calmly about it, and not ruining someones day from my stupid move and compiling it with yelling, I feel alot better about what I do. Yelling does nothing to move the situation further, and makes people blow you off instead of doing everything to help you out. I had to call the Auto part store where I bought my starter cause it was faulty. I didnt yell at the guy, I just asked what the proceedure was and he even said I could come and fill out a labor claim for to recoup the money I was putting out for labor to repair my truck becasue the part was faulty. See how not yelling can help? And Shame on that lady for yelling at you! I do not know if you are allowed to do this but cant you say to them, excuse me but yelling is rude and I personally am not responsible for this mix up, so if you want my help can you keep your frustration at a low roar. It would help me help you better. Some will calm down and some wont but atleast you can give it a whirl. And if they keep abusing you that way, perhaps you could let your supervisor know there is a call for her on line 1. :D-Caress

I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being
right.
