skittles_of_SDC 0 #1 February 16, 2009 I'm not talking about just clicking buttons and adding content. Thats simple enough. I'm talking about full on custom skinning. I don't even really know where to start. If anybody knows anything about it your advice would be appreciated.

QuoteI don't even really know where to start. http://docs.joomla.org/ id say start with the "Absolute Beginners Guide to Joomla!" in the big yellow box on the right I did read that. It doesn't really talk about skinning though. And actually it doesn't look like i'll be doing the porn site. I haven't been contacted about it yet. I'm working on another site that would be perfect for it though. The guys don't know much about web design so this would make it real simple for them. I'm not using this for me. I can hack a basic website out in a couple hours. I'm using this to make it easier for the people that will do the actual updates. xwind 0 #7 February 17, 2009 Joomla is crap. If you like digging around in the darkest corners of the internet for help on a product with fakall documentation joomla is just the thing for you. Even the most trivial thing like adding animated menu buttons require digging around in some of the most undocumented code in the history of computing.Wingsuit South Africa

PhreeZone 15 #9 February 17, 2009 They all suck evenly. I've used Joomla for some projects, I looked at PHPNuke and realized it was a similar learning curve. Sharepoint is somewhat better but you can't afford that licence.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skittles_of_SDC 0 #10 February 17, 2009 That's good to know. Do you have any suggestions to make it easy for people that have no idea how to code to update a site? I know it's not really a good thing but right now I'm doing pretty much anything I can to remove code from the individual pages. Which usually means putting most of it in a referenced CSS file. PhreeZone 15 #11 February 17, 2009 Personally the editors interface on Joomla is not that bad for the back end. Get a plug in or two to make it a WYSIWYG interface its its pretty simple. I had non-computer users updating their own web page after providing 3 pages of instructions that was mainly photos. If they can not figure out how to log in, go to the editors console and create/update content there then they probably should not be allowed to update content at all.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
skittles_of_SDC 0 #12 February 17, 2009 So none of them are that good but you would say they are fine for people that don't know much or anything about coding?
