I feel like my father's daughter

Recommended Posts

I'm at the ancestral family summer home; needed a little project. Lots of leftover wood, so I made an add-on shelf for a kitchen table.

Used: 2 lengths of leftover V- board from paneling the entryway (no, I didn't do that :)2 pieces of 1x1
2 lengths of different sections of scrap from trimming some Louvered doors we installed last year
Finish nails that go back 50 years probably (I think they multiply while I'm gone)
Stain

Put the two V-boards together as designed, put 1 piece of trim on top of the tongue at the back to make a don't-go-off-the-back ridge. Angled the ends of the other piece of trim and put it over the grooved end with a little glue. Cut the heads off the nails to turn them into finish nails, and stained it all.

Voila. All leftovers (yes, the stain too), and I've added nothing to the seemingly endless scrap pile in the shed :)

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
