No need to click. I'm just a guy, not an attractive girl from MO.

Hi everyone,

Just want to introduce myself. I made a handful of jumps in the early 2000s but found myself stopping frequently due to gear fear. 15 years later I'm back on student status. I've just been cleared for coach jumps. I've found a great 182 drop zone in Bolivar, MO called the Airplex. I've been very happy with my instruction and interactions there.

I've done 10 minutes of wind tunnel time combined at the Kansas City and Orlando tunnels. My 8, 5, and 4 year old have each logged 7 minutes. It's so amazing to be able to participate in an amazing experience like that with them.

Who knows if fear will get the best of me again, but for now I'm appreciating each jump one at a time. I also forgot just how much the leg straps hurt on each jump. Please tell me it gets better.

Blue skies,

Chris

Hi there. If it hurt too much all the time, there wouldn't be a lot of people skydiving. People don't, in general, put up with optional long-term discomfort. So yeah, it does get better.

And sharing stuff with your kids is magic. As is the sky. Welcome back.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Welcome to the forums! :)
The leg strap pain does get better when you get your own gear. Hang in there!

Welcome back. Glad you gave it another try even with your fears. as Wendy said yes the leg strap discomfort gets better with better gear. Have faith the gear is reliable when maintained properly.

I noticed your last name. It is the same as mine. It is not a common last name so when I found out there are two others with the same last name at my home DZ I was surprised. And now a third person with the same last name in our small community, wow.
