  1. Hey, thanks :) Unfortunately, it was too windy for #2 this afternoon so I'll have to wait until next weekend. Still, we had a good Safety Day session in the morning so it was a worthwhile day.
  2. AFF 1 video - http://vimeo.com/20945563
  3. Yay! AFF #2 booked in for Saturday Slowly but surely we'll get this done
  4. Yeah, lots of congratulations on nailing it second time around and AFF 2. I largely credit my extra effort to arch on exit [on this past weekends AFF1] to your 'spinning like a turtle' video - so, thanks
  5. It went great today. I can't thank the instructors enough for great tuition and support. I'm pretty sure Eagle Lake is going to be a regular outing. Congrats to Zach and David too [the two other AFF1 students] who also did great today.
  6. 'Playing in the sky' sounds so . I have a [Welsh] cousin living in San Marcos so it'd be cool to get to other DZ's when I'm done with the full training.
  7. Thanks John, and everyone for the replies. Thunderstorms are in for this morning so a good day to do ground school. Tomorrow is looking perfect for getting the jump in. Let's do this
  8. Iawn, diolch. Yeah, definitely going for video :-)
  9. Yeah, I wasn't looking to learn 'by youtube' so much as just be aware of what can happen. I'll stick to watching the inspirational stuff tonight and enjoy the day and jump over the weekend
  10. Strangely, I'm not put off by the 'bad' or 'ugly' skydive videos. I figure seeing it and learning about it can only be a good thing - learning what *not* to do etc. I'm not more worried given my size - I just have these visions of me rising if an upstream comes my way lol
  11. That's my humor. I'm liking this skydiving community already :D
  12. Whilst I can understand risks associated with being too big/heavy to skydive - can there be problems with being too small or too light? As I get ready to start AFF 1 I've spent ages on youtube this week and can't help but notice one of the main issues for new jumpers is getting stability nailed. Is getting stable more of an issue for shorter / lighter body types than it is for say taller / medium build? I'm 145lbs and 5'6", hence my interest.
  13. Yeah, I've already made the call about Sunday as a fall back option. I'm less than an hour away so a Sunday jump wouldn't be the end of the world.
  14. Hello all, I've not long arrived back in Texas with work and rather than procrastinate as usual, I've decided to take the plunge this weekend and start my AFF - going through AFF 1 at Skydive Houston tomorrow morning. I've (2) tandems to my name [2001 and 2008] so at least I know I brick it a little when the door opens at 10,000ft :) Hopefully the weather will be kind enough to let me get that first jump in before the day is out. Any tips? [Adrian]
