  1. My only thought on canopy size was to keep a proper wing loading, I would think a minimum of .75/1 . Anything less would get blown around or maybe stall/ collapse. So let's say she weighs 50#, plus 20# rig is 70#. At .75/1 that would be a 94 sq. ft. canopy. It's likely she only weighs 50#. This is why I thought of half sizing everything, then it all works as a unit like it should.

  2. I think a design company like PD could use a computer to create ( re-size ) a new ( existing ) pattern of a container and appropriate canopy sized to half. Risers, lines, canopy, reserve, pilot chute and container. It would cost a little more, but could solve the problem. If they can make a large system, they can make a small system, that works as a small system. Ask, as a challenge to be creative.

  3. I haven't heard this said yet, so I'll say it. Bottom line, make SURE to get your pilot chute into clean air. Grab it without hesitation, and throw it Vigorously out to the side into the clean air. As for the Off Subject of "Break Tape" I have done alot of them (static line), I always use my largest PC ( 48 inch ) as a back up, just in case of miss rigging or low tension breaking of the tape (less than 80 #) due to sharp edges or using a long section of tape. There should be NO SLACK in the tape. Tying the Bridle directly to the object ( loosen the Knot alittle where bridle meets PC and thread the break tape thru that bridle knot and re-tighten, then tye the two ends around object Tightly = no slack) Asylum BASE sells a great Static Line Adapter that I use also. As for GoPro, I've used one on the back of my Left heal on lots of WS jumps and never had a problem, but did have one S/T guy say something about it last week. Entanglement problems. It does get great video in that position.

  4. I don't have a copy of the BSR's, but don't you also need 185 jumps in the preceeding one year to be current enough just to take a First Wingsuit Course ? No matter how many jumps you have ( over 200 ) ?

  5. Nice jump Arnel ( and Team Ill Vision ). The video does misrepresent Arnel though.....He was already a very capable BASE jumper, with many, many BASE jumps and a very capable Wingsuit pilot. He had just not "combined" the two. Arnel, you are the man. Mike ( Lodi, Lincoln )

  6. How did it go on your openings, reaching around the fabric and dropping your grippers to reach your pilot chute ? Different ? You'll like the high reach leg zippers on the Bird series ( and other Tony Suits ). At this rate, you'll probably get a Vampire 3.....ha, ha, ha......

  7. I've had Sciatic nerve problems for 20 yrs. I've jumped on days with pain. I'll be in pain, but from experience I know when I exit the plane my body relaxes, my body is not supporting my weight anymore, and I'm " FREE " ( from the pain ). If I could just stay in freefall forever.......Wow....... Maybe a windtunnel............?

  8. The arm strain on this type suit would be less. When this, or other large suits (Super mach 1, Stealth, etc.) inflate, they are pretty rigid in their shape, and you are basically almost along for the ride. You have to actually "take control" of the suit. Maybe ask for a loaner from the manufactor first, to try it. A serious point to make is to keep it "shut down" more than usual out the door. It takes almost no wind to fully inflate, and can catch you off guard. It may fly you right back into the tail. You only get one chance with the tail. Good Luck.

  9. I've had 14 bikes in my 48 years, I rode all year one year, all I had was my bike. I put 41,000 miles on just one bike of the fourteen. So I feel I can say this with alot of riding under my belt......Cars are bigger than Motorcycles....stay away from them....you'll NEVER win in a fight for space.

  10. In my First WS flight course, my instructor Ed P, requires you to exit the plane and clear the horizontal stabilizer at least once or twice, showing stability flying in a position of hands crossed in front of chest and legs/knees bent and together, until the tail has past, then opening arms and legs to flying position. This is done with no wingsuit, until he says you are OK to exit with the Wingsuit on. I believe this should be required, but I didn't see it mentioned in the USPA BSR shown here. I'm sure other instructors do this, but it should be required. Most fun jumpers are so used to flying the relative wind right out of the door, they could easily, under stress of a first wingsuit exit, open their wings just out the door. Also looking back to the landing area a couple times in your flight is a good idea to stay orientated on your location relative to the Drop Zone. ..........And keep your goggles tight, to avoid tearing up on high speed jumps, which can cloud your vision, resulting in collisions or close calls. My three cents worth.

  11. I'm not an expert rope rigger, but I have jumped a freefall pendulum. With a 200 ft. static blue line rope. Going into freefall, then falling into the arch of the pendulum and sceaming across the sky semi-horizontally. If I called it a swing, I miss represented it. The rigging of the supporting members, and secondary protection of those members, and primary and secondary protective rigging of these systems are why they can be jumped. Extremely technical. People who try to rig this, who are not experts, and try to jump this way will probably get killed.

  12. It's a giant rope swing, supported by another rope stretched across the canyon. There is no hard impact because the rope is swinging, not straight down. I did a 200 ft rope swing that way....no wingsuit.

  13. Thanks DSE. You're welcome to post them. I had Pete Swan (Lodi) look at all three suits for a professional opinion, by the way, and he gave them an OK to fly. He did note though, that I should use Nylon thread, not Polyester. Polyester thread won't stretch with the Nylon Rip-stop and nylon thread will.

  14. I can't post my Skyflier pics on this site. They exceed the upload size for the site. Even though they were taken with a Gopro. I've tried cell phone pics before and they are too large also. I don't know what people use to get under the max upload size.......?

  15. I just replaced the entire tail on my S1. Widening it by 10", to reduce the twitchyness. I also put high leg zipper grabbers on it ( Tony Suit style ). Also grippers, with a slight wingtip extention ( a little 4" triangle ). The new grippers are running parallel with the leading edge of the arm wing, attached on the rear of the hand hole. Haven't jumped it modified yet. I also put high leg zipper grabbers on my Vampire 2, and Shadow. Also replaced the old junky spandex and collar on the V2........I've been busy...... Hope the S1 is less twitchy now.

  16. Don't grab other peoples hard work. Buy a video camera, get the shots that you love, put them to music, put it on youtube, call it your vid......then find it somewhere else on youtube or elsewhere, with someone elses name on it. Wow, look, they got five stars and a big pat on the back.....for your video. Rip off.

  17. I like my GoPrp HD's at 720/60fps for video. The stills are great until you do Sunset loads. The picture will start to smear in any thing less than Full Sunlight. I was told this is from the very small Optical Sensor. Bottom line, without a flash back-up, this smearing will happen without full sunshine.

  18. Geez Girl....You can really type up a Storm. My question today is .....did you Vote today.....No, that's too personal. How about this.....Just about every night "at least" one of my dreams is a skydive dream.....either hanging out with my friends at a Drop Zone, or with Bill D. for some reason ?????? Or the recurring super low (100 ft) cut away dream where I never fully inflate my reserve, but do a tippy toe landing. Have you started having jump dreams "yet" ( because you will ) ?

  19. Another post to Flower...be aware that there are some Drop Zones who don't give a light on a Hop n Pop. They might not even reduce their speed, which means the tail will be sitting lower than you might be used to. In that case, going BIG into the relative wind is a VERY bad idea, Just dropping off into a Style Box or less, would be a better idea. Just be aware of it. We're all friends here. Stay Safe and Stay Alive.

  20. I think you just explained the GO call....you said you had your head out the door when the yellow was on, then how could you tell the green had come ? I would bet a beer it was a basic, friendly, "go", since you could not see the light. To let you know the light was green. I could be wrong, but I bet it was not a " GO Mother Fxcker ! " kind of thing. You hear alot of Mild, Friendly "Goes" on Hop n Pops.
