  1. Breathing is very important in freeflying in general. Not just while you are head down. Breathing will really help you relax and release any tension that you have built up. If you think you are concentrating to much on breathing then do things to make it second nature such as adding the breathing to your dirt diving. Make it a part of your dive. Breathing will prove to be a very valuable tool especially once you get into bigways.
  2. Kim and myself will be there. Paul
  3. I am bigger than most of the jumpers in our area but I have been able to adjust my flying style to allow me to fly with just about anyone. First you will need to bite the bullet and invest in a suit that provides sufficient drag. The whole suit does not need to be thick. Just make sure that it is thicker from the elbow down and from the knees down because those are the main areas that are exposed to the airflow. You will need to master both the daffy and the X-man flying styles and if done right the X-man can provide just as much drag and the daffy. Work on your flexibility and your muscle strength in your lower body particulalry your hips. You will need them to get those legs out there. Another note to remember if you are like me you are constantly having to fly with guys that can easily fall 140mph and that is the slowest I can go in a sit. The average speed a freefly should be going is around 155mph to 160mph. That should be a good speed for most anyone. If you are flying with guys that are falling slower tell them to step it up a notch because we all know that it is a lot easier to speed it up than slow it down.
  4. Congratulation guys now I am sorry I had to leave Sunday morning. I can't wait for the next get together. Jon and the rest of the Dallas crew did a great job at putting this together and making everyone feel right at home thanks guys. See some of you in a week at the convention and summerfest. Paul
  5. There are a few different ways that you can side slide to the left or right while head down. One that really helped my girlfriend is bringing one arm in while leaving the other extended. For example if you want to side slide to the right you simply bend your right arm to bring you hand in while leaving your left arm extended. This can be used to move fast or slow depending on how much you bring the right arm in. Now when I am in formations and I want to make a slow controlled slides I simply use my hands only. If you like you can email me and I can try and put it into writing for you.
  6. Correction to Kim's post. We will be at WFFC from August 2 till the 6th and then we are heading to Summerfest for the remainder of the week. See everyone in Dallas in 2 weeks.
  7. Hey Levine, I know that Bryan and myself from San Marcos will be at Waller next weekend for some big ways. I am sure we will bring a few others. I hadn't heard about Spaceland on the 14th and 15th but that sounds like a plan. I am sure the San Marcos gang would be up for it. Glad you guys had a good time last weekend I know we did and we look forward to jumping with everyone again. Paul
  8. To the friends of Chris Salin, We are planning memorial dives for Chris Salin at Skydive San Marcos on Saturday evening after the services and would like to invite his friends to participate. This is to include a sunset tracking dive. We would ask that someone at your DZ take ownership to organize one or several dives. In memory of Chris,
  9. For those of you that were lucky enough to know Chris Salin one thing is for sure you will never forget him. Due to complications with his injuries Chris passed away on Monday afternoon. Chris was a free spirit that lived life on his terms. Life was his candy store and he was a kid running free. Funeral Service is set for Saturday May 4th in New Braunfels, TX. @ 2pm. A gathering of friends will be at Skydive San Marcos Friday for a day of jumping and remembering our friend Chris. Blue Skies, Paul
