  1. well thanks for all the input and advice folks and no I won't jump with music or even have music in the plane till AT LEAST 100 jumps. I'll also check out some other threads that were on this topic
  2. Those guys are super cool and much smarter than the rest of us. Therefore, they don't really need their sense of hearing to skydive safely, so it's okay. They don't need to hear their audible altimeter alerts, or the sound of other canopies nearby in the sky. It's all good. And while they're at it, they might as well also wear a blindfold, because they can just use "the force", like those Star Wars guys, instead of depending upon their vision. Long live the Jedi knight skydivers! Or, perhaps they only listen in one ear while riding to altitude... But that wouldn't make any room for sarcasm and judgement laden replies, would it? I think the idea of listening to anything while actually on a skydive is ridiculous, yet I've never heard of anyone actually doing it in real life, either. . Now you have. Nearly 400 jumps with em' in. It's possible to be responsible, attentive, and aware while wearing headphones. What's ridiculous is people that have never worn headphones on a jump or on a scubadive lecturing others about how bad it is. There are many types of headphones, multiple methods of being safe with them. There are several potential dangers. Like everything else in skydiving. what do you recommend? In the helmet? Is there a website? I'm not going to do it for a while but I am very curious how people do it without the wire messing with the parachute or with out it falling to the ground
  3. hope this is the right section for this question if not I apologize. I see people listening to ipods in the plane on the way up. Do people actually jump with them or just to relax in the plane? And if you do jump with them where do you recomend putting it so it's safe?
  4. i'm always nervous except in freefall. i'm new and am sure i'll get better as time comes. i'm ok with how I feel now though
  5. I finished AFF 2 weeks ago. I learned to be slow with everything and relax.(or try your best). The best advice I got after being off student status is try new things up high and stick to the basics when ur getting low :-)
  6. NICE! I want to check this out. Will they let me go if I don't have my A license yet but am off student status? I should probably call them and find out or just hury up and get my A license already
  7. oh Peej - I think I met your camera man friend. Is he short with black longish hair? if so ya he was on every load with me and he was from south africa
  8. thanks for the warm welcome :-) Skymamma- I will get my A license hopefully before 2009. Jumping out at 3000 scares me though lol jamiem- my instructor was Keith. I was there last Thursday and Friday. I'm bald with a lip ring. You probably saw me land in bushes or on my face a couple times lol mr. music, I havn't heard of anything in Lincoln but that would be bad ass since my parents stay close to there and I could just crash all weekend. Keep me posted if you get more info on it.
  9. I literally just finished AFF at this DZ last week. I watched the video over and over till I found the landing zone and confirmed it. I took my location info out of my profile since the DZ is a secret or whatever but your 1st 2 jumps looked more stable then mine besides the horrible exit of course. I really want to see your other 3. You can PM me and we can exchange notes i'm curious who your instructor was and what you did to make them so concerned. P.S. For the record, I love this DZ and found the training awesome. It was fast and I did 5 jumps in 1 day as well. I learned a lot, had fun, felt safe, and when I graduated felt confident jumping on my own :-)
  10. no i'm landing on my feet. I had a really hard opening on 1 of my jumps. My back seems to be cool right now so maybe I was just being a cry baby. Moving forward I am going to stretch, take advill, and not arch so hard when exiting. Thanks for all the advice folks. Take care, Jeff
  11. My name is Jeff I stay in Sacramento CA, just graduated AFF and can't get skydiving out of my head.
  12. Hey folks, I'm a newbie just graduated AFF and have 18 under my belt. I've had days where my back hurt but only lasted an hour or so. This weekend I got 9 jumps in, felt fine, then 2 days later it hurt so bad I can barley walk. Is this normal? are there exercises I can do to prevent this?
  13. I just finished AFF there. The training was great, finished in 2 days and felt confident jumping on my own afterwards. They joked around and made me feel relaxed but also always made saftey #1 and was very good at helping me get passed the jumps. I recommend anyone and everyone in Northern California who is thinking about AFF to do it here. It's the cheapest, fastest, and best in the area. The more experienced jumpers will tease you about bad landings but it is all in good fun. The owner Bill is funny as well and has lots of techniques and things to help you jump. Over all it is a great vibe and tons of fun. The people there are great as well
  14. check out the gym in stockton that the diaz brothers train at. top of the line!
