  1. Hi Jenni :)
DO IT .......... It was the best decision I ever made.

The fact that you are here writing about it means that you are already half-way to making the decision for yourself. Thousands of people skydive with very few accidents .. the ones that happen tend to get a lot of coverage ...

You may want to go for a tandem jump first just to make sure you like it before committing yourself to the costs of a course.

Talk to your friend about where they jump and then phone the DZ or go along in person ... You'll find most skydivers will happily explain the options available to you regarding courses etc

Or contact the USPA for more information

Ps It REALLY IS AS MUCH FUN AS YOU THINK IT WILL BE PLUS A LOT MORE B|

  2. As always good advice ... So how's the SA weekend going ??? Have you sorted out enough SAffers ???

We took a friendly SAffer girl to do her first S/L jump in the UK last weekend ... She was smiling so much after the jump ... wish I could bottle that enthusiasm for the non-jumpers to taste ....

    Anyway see you soon

Ps what planes are you jumping now at Hinton ???

  3. Unfortunately there will always be those who are sad and dis-illusioned or mad or brain-washed who are ready to try to destroy our way of life ....

Fortunately for everyone this situation was contained as far as possible ...

I wish we could fix the world's problems but until such time as everyone learns to live together then this sort of thing WILL HAPPEN ...:(

But at least we can lead by example showing a multi-cultural and multi-faith tolerance (even if the faith options are beer or boobies !!!)

  4. What a great thread ... I have to say that I agree with pretty much most of the reasons given in some way. But I have to say that challenge keeps me buzzing (especially with my low jump numbers !!). But also the feeling that every moment of life is so precious and that look on everyone's face as you all land.

In fact it really feels now like my "true" life began once I started jumping ... All the rubbish in life has faded away and a new perspective has taken over ...

    I am totally hooked ....

    My name's james and I'm a freefall addict ...:)

  5. If it is normal in america I'm staying in the UK :P

I now know what I missed by not saving myself ...
    Sigh .... I guess I'll just have to carry on or become a born-again virgin - I think it's a recognised religion ....

  6. You're right the video looked awesome B| Mike etc did everyone proud ...

I was at sebastian last year just after the boogie and heard about everything second-hand. Judging by the feedback from everyone who was there last year I've decided not to miss this one this time !!!

At least a couple of us are intending to come from the UK for this ... who wouldn't want to jump in such beautiful surroundings especially if the vibe is as good this year ....

    See you there

  7. I know about the C licence requirements in the Uk ... I will comply with them and wait until I meet the uk requirements when jumping in the uk or wherever.

As I said in my previous posting ... I will wait until I AND THE LOCAL CCI or equiv is happy before jumping this helmet ...

I have no intentions of breaking either BPA or USPA (or whichever) regs.

  8. Taken from July 1st Edition of London Metro Newspaper :-

    "THAILAND:

Two women drugged and robbed a man by persuading him to suck their sedative coated nipples. The pair approached Nontakorn Pearsontea at a bus stop in the north-eastern city of Nakorn Ratchasima, took off their tops and invited him to suck their breasts. The 27-year-old, who lost cash, jewellry and his mobile phone, said " I could not refuse but I woke and found I had lost everything" "

Do you think that this may catch on and will how can we fight such a fiendish crime such as this ?????

Or quite simply .... ME FIRST ;-)

  9. :)
    I'm all crazy anyway !!

But seriously, I will work on the jumping first but I thought I would ask the question about the lens because it helps if I have an idea of what I will need.

I will get more jumps before trying and the camera would be fully enclosed in the helmet that I have in mind (virtually no bits sticking out !!!)

I will seek the advice of an instructor before I attempt jumping this helmet anyway ...
And only jump it once I have their approval ...

I guess I'm being a little eager and should wait before asking these questions but it was on my mind because someone had mentioned .6 and .45 and I wasn't sure what the terms related to.

Nice to see that someone reads the profiles though ....

  10. My friend and I have 50 jumps between us ... we are going to jump tomorrow and have decided to pull at 2000ft Do you think a wing loading of 1.7 is too high for these conditions. My friend has jumped a stiletto at 1.85 before but I'm nervous ....

what do you think?? am I being a pussy about this ???

So I'm off to Rantoul and I have bought a sony PC101 and I've asked those nice people at Y2KCOMPOSITES.COM to produce a sexy camera helmet for me. I'm using a cam-eye 2 with that so what would you reccomend I should use as a lens with it ??? A wide angle .45 or .6 or something else ???

    I hope you can help....

  12. Thanks for the tip ... I just managed to get a pc 101 from Jessops on a price match with unbeatable!! In the end they came to within £15 of the unbeatable price and I didn't have to wait for it. Plus they do a warranty which WILL repair or replace the camera if damaged even if anything happens WHILST JUMPING ... So long as you have the bits ...
At least that's what the sales assistant said !!!!
I'm not sure whether to completely believe him ....
Now all I need to do is to learn how to use the thing !!!!
And to buy a good camera helmet ...
    Any suggestions ???

  13. So do I .... I have been wanting to travel for a while and have been saving up a bit ... Cut away from the girlfriend (spinning mal. !!!) and decided to try and see a little of this world ...
I've been told it's not the sensible thing to do and why can't I be "normal" but I keep looking at all the "normal" people and thinking "your life sucks ...."
    So I'm off ........... We'll just see what's down this road ..... ;-)

  14. Just to share ... We (England) may have lost the world cup
    ;-(
but as of next week I've quit work and I'm heading off travelling and jumping ;-)
    So goodbye "Normal" Life
The house is sold (almost) and the car and soon I'll just have my rig and my backpack ...
    BLISS ;-)
No more work (until the money runs out, which may be after the first DZ and bar that I visit !!!)
First stop Europe then the FFC and then onwards !!!
    So say Hi !!!

  15. Yes but over here ... (Especially in London !!!) ... They charge over $4.50 per bottle for Miller Light in a bar ...
So Free beer seems good but I'll take your word on the Urine !!!
Can't wait to be at the FFC ;-)

  16. Yes, I know lots of people are going, but I was wondering if there was anyone who was going about the right time to give me a lift ... It would make life easier for me and i could perhaps share costs with anyone heading that way from Chicago ...

  17. Hello there, I'm flying in for the FFC from the UK on the 30th July (evening) anyone heading to the FFC on the 31st or thereabouts ??? I could be persuaded to buy beer for anyone who was prepared to give me a lift ..... ;-)
