  1. More re Abbotsford Parachute Center The center was started by a group of four clubs in 1963 and has been in operation ever since. There have been several operators over the years including Jim Taylor,Bill Hardman,Dick Poizer,Don Maitland and Gerry Harper. Herb Porter owned the center and aircraft until Gerry Harper took over the operation. In the early years Herb was one of the few pilots who knew that a Cessna would fly without a door and a jumper on the step. He was a booster of the sport in the early years. There were free jumps New Years Day.
  2. My first jump cost $12.50 including training gear and jump ticket .No pilot chute on reserve.(worked OK on fifth jump) Reserve had rate of decent of a large rock.First jump meet accuracy measured out to 100 feet .Lots of rounds of Cardinal Puff . Beer cost less also .
  3. Mine was a 28foot sulplus canopy with a double L modification .The reserve was a 24 foot surplus twill. It came complete with a B4 harness and container from McElfish Parachute Service Dallas Tx for the total cost of $63.00.The year 1964.Quote
