  1. Oh, you'll probably see me down there again. I sorta liked Ogden. The view there is terrific and you've got the tunnel there, too. And I will be looking for you to show up at Star at least once this year. :)

Post up if you are one of the coolest grandmas in the world.

    How many jumps?
    How many grand kids?
What is the most bad ass thing you can do in the air?

    B|

I guess this means me. I've been skydiving for a litle over 2 years and have 506 jumps and just got my D. I've got 4 grandkids and the oldest two have already decided they want to jump with me when they are old enough. (in 4 years and 7 years, so I'd better stay with it a while).

I don't know that anything I do would be badass, but I think the tube exit I did last summer was pretty cool. Neither of us knew what we were doing, but we managed to hold it for about 4ooo ft. I finally let go cause I was getting dizzy. B|

Edited to add: What's with the cookie thing? I sure don't do cookies.

  3. Thanks, everybody. It's been a fantastic couple of years. I've sure shared the sky with a lot of great people, not to mention the beer enjoyed around the bonfire at the end of so many days. Everyone has been so generous with their time and knowledge and I very much apprefciate all the encouragaement. It does seem like the more I learn, the more I realize how little I actually know, so I hope you'll continue to be patient and help this old lady keep on learning. :)

I guess winter in Idaho isn't so bad. Three fun jumps and it wasn't all that cold. Didn't even wear my thermal stuff. The view was terrific, by the way. Pretty, pretty blue sky and snow capped mountains all around the horizon.

Beer for getting my D license :)

Tee, hee. :D:D I gues I wasn't too old. I just did my 500th jump today. B|B| So much fun.... so many new friends.... and so much still to learn. It's sort of nice to be 59 and still living and learning.

So...thinkin' about maybe sticking with it??;)B|

Yeah, I think I might stick around a while. I've got a few things left to learn.

Or maybe that really should be "I've learned a few things, but there's a whole lot more I want to learn."
And skydiving is without a doubt, the funnest thing I've ever tried learning. B|

    Congrats Granny :)

Congrats, Pat! I have 83 and am trying to get my 100th by my 43rd birthday in February. The weather is NOT cooperating! You still coming out to Lodi in March??

I'm still probably heading there. It's a driveable distance for me. But will someone please turn off the wind this year?? :D I'm guessing you're not the one to ask, though. Weather this time of year does make it hard to get many jumps,, doesn't it?

  8. Hi Minna, I will be there, camera in hand. I'm not ready jumping there......... yet..... but I do think it's something I am going to try one of these days. I'll definitely remind you to give me your number. I'll round up Para-Frog that you've had some exchanges with. I jump with him at Star now and then. :)

  9. My first of the year was out of an Otter at Skydive AZ, as well as several more that day. Then I came back to Idaho and was on the first load of the year at Star. That one was out of our little C-182. Clouds and fog were headed our way, so we only got 8000ft. Great way to start the year. B|:D

  10. Garden hoses are frozen around here this time of year, but my jumpsuit washed quite nicely and the muck is pretty much dry on my leg straps. I didn't get too much on the container, fortunately. I'll start brushing off all I can tomorrow, and since it's almost due for a repack, I think I'll have it washed and
Scotch-guarded soon. At least I wasn't the only one who got muddy yesterday.

  11. I did! B| Three nice warm jumps in Eloy Saturday and then home for one very cold (30 degrees F on the ground) muddy jump here in Idaho. But it was fun and the first load of the year at the dz. I would have done more, but like I mentioned it was really muddy. It's going to take some doing to get the mud off everything,. [:/]

  12. October to May, morning and afternoon, weather permitting. The nice thing about there is that there are lots of good outs in the desert.

  13. You've sure found out what it's like to be a student skydiver. I started AFF in winter inm Idaho and it seemed like I was always having to put off jumpimg because of the weather. Sure hope you get your jump this weekend.

  14. Last time I flew out of LAX, I had a 40 minute chat with TSA about the AAD. I had a copy of the TSA thing, the AAD x-ray card, the supervisor said he had 50 some jumps, but I still got to stand there while they figured out if I could take it or not. A key phrase seemed to be that the AAD is a life-saving device. The supervisor had to go look for their documentation which he couldn't find. Then he watched a video of some sort that told him where to find the document which he then showed to the agent. The guy at the gate even commented that what they saw on the x-ray looked just the card showed. Sheesh. Any way, I always get there the two hours early that is suggested, so I had plenty of time for the little chat and to get something to eat before boarding. My suggestion..... be sure to arrive plenty early. It's much easier to smile and be polite when you aren't worried about missing your plane.

Colored lines, or rather colored/marked tabs can make things easier when you first start... But I wouldn't do that to my own gear, as in time you won't need the indication, and it might lower the resale value.

He's porbably talking about the colored tabs that Aerodyne canopies (Pilots and Triathlons) come with. You don't color anything. They come that way. They can help a lot at first to tell the lines apart. When I first started packing, it looked like a mess of spaghetti to me.
